Windows
11 Features and Disadvantages
One of the most popular operating systems in use around the world, Windows 11 has been released recently and is widely used across the world by millions of users. The new OS comes with some awesome features that make it compatible and useful to a vast range of users. This article will discuss all the exciting advantages, disadvantages, pros and security measures of Windows 11.
Windows 11 Overview
Windows 11 is an official
update for the Microsoft operating system, which means it is constantly getting
updated. Currently, there are two versions available – v10 and v11. V11
improves performance, increases memory and storage, makes sure compatibility
with your old PC and other computers, etc.
Windows 11 is the first major
release for this system and was launched on Oct 5, 2020. However, before you
can install the OS, you must have had access to Microsoft’s Dev Channel (CMD
Win + X), which lets you test and try out the newly-released software. It may
take a few minutes to download and sign up but once done, install it in just a
couple of minutes. After installation, start using various apps in Windows
without any issues. Here are more details about installing Windows 11 here.
Windows 11 Operating System
Windows 11 OS works like other
recent releases like iOS and Android. Compared to its predecessors, the OS
introduces several significant changes and improvements including improved RAM
consumption, better data transfer, faster booting time, multi-tasking feature,
automatic switching between multiple windows with quick response, easier cloud
services, etc. These changes make the OS easier to use.
The only difference from the previous version will be the following:
In Windows 11, Microsoft will
provide 8GB of memory and 16GB for 64-bit versions of Windows. So it also
introduces support for the 32-bit version of Windows on 4GB RAM and 8GB RAM
devices. Also, there is no change in the battery life of all editions of these
systems except the low-end model. All the updates and patches for these models
are provided free of cost and there are no restrictions on how much disk space
you need to store your files.
Windows 11 Pro and Enterprise
Windows 11 offers three
different editions: Professional Desktop & Professional Standard.
Professional Desktop edition
offers 10GB memory with dual core. For high-end configurations, you get a
quad-core performance. This edition will offer better than previous ones. On
the professional standard, one gets 7GB of memory. Nowadays, many companies choose
high-end versions when choosing their laptops because they provide better memory
and other benefits. They also offer some extra premium features such as Dolby
Audio and built-in Wi-Fi 6/7/8/10. On top of that, Windows 11 Pro gives some
special deals for gaming and movies like Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for a limited
time. You can save $50 on purchasing Windows 11 Professional if you want to
enjoy it at home, but you cannot run Gameshows or similar programs. In this
case, you would require a laptop with 8GB or 16GB RAM as well.
Windows 11 Enterprise offers
15GB memory for both single- and double-core. Both versions come with support
for 1TB hard drive and 256 GB SSD. There are 3 types of memory combinations –
LGA1, UGA2 and MGA3. LGA1 is an Intel Xeon E5-2600L 2.6 GHz Processor, while the
others are AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, Intel Core i5-3520G Processor and Apple Macbook
Intel N3.
Windows 11 Management Suite
Windows 11 management suite is
a set of tools to manage, monitor, manage and maintain your computer. Through
Windows Admin Center, Power Manager and Search, you can schedule tasks, manage
running background processes, configure settings and so on. With the help of the Control Panel, you can perform routine actions and things. You can assign
permissions to everyone (only if you don’t like to share folders on public
accounts) as well as do certain stuff like restarting, deleting or opening apps
in Windows.
Windows Subsystem Drive
Like the desktop, the server is
another part of Windows 11 Enterprise which provides additional partitions and
drives. Subsystem Drive of Windows 11 can be viewed or accessed through a
browser, for example, Subsystem Drive allows you to create a subdirectory of
your choice. You can even share this file on a network too.
Windows Storage Expansion
You can add more partitions or
expansions by increasing existing storage by selecting “Windows Storage” >
“Storage space expansion”. Once the process starts you can check all the
expansion options by clicking ‘Create More Space’. This will allow you to
manage storage based on your need. When the expansion is completed you will see
something called ‘Subsystem Drives’ in the right menu bar.
Windows SmartScreen
Windows smart screen is a very
convenient feature that is highly functional. At times, you would run into
problems on small screens of mobile phones. By turning on this feature, it
automatically turns off whenever you open a new device. No matter what size
your screen is you can still view it. If you face some issues in it or find any
blank spaces, even if you are using larger screens then simply select the
option and go back to any other task.
Windows Snap Group
Windows Snap Group is quite an interesting tool. Although it is not as powerful as full root-based groups it
saves lots of time. It does not support third-party utilities. It is a simple
yet fast way to organize many folders in a simpler and easy-to-understand
manner.
Windows SharePoint Online Integration
With Windows SharePoint
integration, it helps you communicate and collaborate with people who work on
the same machine or computer. Users can view documents, share content, send
messages, connect to shared files, etc. So, it takes less time for us than we
thought and makes our day-to-day work experience much simpler.
Windows App Folder
This function is like a mini
web browser for application and files. With this program, users can link the
folder to a specific window. Therefore, it acts like a client app.
Windows Localization
Windows localisability feature
saves you lot of work. As soon as you type the name of app into command box,
Windows will translate that word in any language available and open that app.
It supports almost the whole world. It takes less work and it will improve your
efficiency.
Windows Performance Monitor
Windows performance monitor has
two types: High definition (HD), Low definition (LD) and Custom mode.
Custom monitor
The custom monitor is pretty like
monitor. It has all necessary components such as CPU load information, graphic
card status, motherboard temperature, etc. In addition to them, users get some
technical specifications on each monitor like PCI Express, DisplayPort and
other devices. A user can choose which monitor to use in his setup.
Windows Virtual Machine
Support
Windows virtual machine on
Linux OS and Windows Server, allows users to install a completely isolated
Windows environment. It doesn’t support traditional Windows-based applications
such as SQL Server and Office. Its main purpose is to provide a great solution
for developers, administrators, and domain experts to build Windows
applications and servers.
VMMware and Hyper-V
Windows Virtual Machine and
Hyper-V are specially designed to solve real-world computing needs. To begin
with, users can start, stop and replicate to any given folder, anywhere in
Windows, and to do so, you need to purchase VMware (Windows-like solution to
virtual environments) and Hyper-V. VMware is basically a collection of
resources for VMware and Hyper-V. It includes common hardware drivers, VDI
support for Ceph, VHDM for containerization, Fuse support, HVM support, RAID
controllers, etc. Hyper-V works differently. Users can launch VM instances for
every physical GPU. But, Hyper-V has limited capacity. Only one instance per
physical GPU. Hyper-V allows the creation of distributed storage, as mentioned above
(on a temporary basis) but it requires separate VMs for all machines. Thus you
can’t use everything under one environment since a virtualized machine is
always running different instances in parallel.
Windows Key
Windows key is another
important tool for accessing sensitive information from your desktop that might
be considered confidential. It hides that folder in a private directory on the user’s computer. There should be a password or username to enter to unlock that
folder.
Windows Remote Desktop
Windows remote Desktop allows
you to host your own desktop inside another desktop where you can control your
computer remotely. This can be accessed via IP address or name. Apart from the fact
that Windows Remote Desktop, you also have a list of your favorite websites to
keep the passwords for. To turn On Windows Remote Desktop, go to the Start menu,
right-click the Desktop and select Remote Desktop.
Windows Command Prompt
Windows Command prompt provides
an integrated graphical user interface that is easy to learn and use. Using
Command Prompt, you can quickly switch between command line and GUI. It shows
your active session and lets you switch between different sessions.
Windows PowerShell
Windows PowerShell is the best
choice for business analytics when you have fewer IT skills. You require fewer
resources so it becomes suitable for large organizations. Because of the power
of R language, Windows PowerShell offers a set of functions that are similar
to R programming.
Windows PowerShell Code
Editor
The code editor of Windows 11
provides a code preview feature. For example, Microsoft’s Azure Stack can be
created using PowerShell. This code comes with Visual Studio Code where you can
write complex code in front of the console.
Windows Powershell DLL
After downloading Windows
Powershell dll, you can insert that script into a CD or ZIP file. Then, cd to
that zip file, zip the dll and execute the clear.
Windows PowerShell Installer
Windows PowerShell installer is
a package of scripts that allows you to run multiple different installations
